My research career begins in 1996 in the PROSEPAV group from the University of Vigo. In 2001, I have defended my doctoral thesis and I got the PhD Extraordinary Prize for this work. My research interest was focused in the use of ionic liquids as azeotrope breaker of several well known azeotropic mixtures. The relevance of these neoteric solvents in the last years have encouraged me to investigate their potential as extractants in LLE. Taking into account the innovative character of the ionic liquids, I have had the opportunity to specialize in the synthesis of these neoteric solvents with the aim of designing greener extraction process. Then, these compounds were the basis for the implementation of sustainable strategies that were welcomed to the field of conventional and bioactive compounds recovery. At the end, I would like to mention that I have published more than130 JCR articles and my h Index is 36. I have spread my research results in national and international Congress (80 poster/oral communications). This work has been possible due to the financial support of one international, 14 national and 9 autonomous projects in which I have participated as investigator. In parallel, I have participated as investigator in a Contract with a company from the petrochemical sector. My research carrier has motivated that I have been suggested as habitual reviewer of international journals and scientific projects. Finally, I have jungled research and teaching during the last twenty years.
